Abu Dhabi-based Global South Utilities has commissioned Chad's first utility-scale solar plant, a 50 MW facility in N'Djamena with 5 MWh of storage to supply 274,000 homes. The facility will provide electricity to 274,000 homes and reduce reliance on imported diesel. Stretching across the outskirts of N'Djamena, its 81,000 photovoltaic panels and 158 inverters operate alongside a 5MWh battery system that smooths every fluctuation. The inauguration was attended by Mahamat Ahmad ALHABO, Minister of State and Secretary-General of the Presidency of the Republic of Chad, along with Chad ministers, Ali Alshimmari, GSU CEO and Managing Director, and the UAE Ambassador to Chad, Rashid Al Shamsi.
